Posted by NCPS on 9 May 2016

Navitas College of Public Safety (NCPS) has a new webpage dedicated to sharing the success stories of some of our Alumni who are now working in the field.

‘Meet our Graduates’ has launched with four career updates from our talented Alumni, about the progress of their studies and professions since completing their Bachelor of Criminology and Justice degrees. The articles also highlight the study experiences, including the challenges, in the graduates’ own words.

“People with a broad range of career goals and professional interests complete the Bachelor of Criminology and Justice,” said Matthew Thurgood, Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator at NCPS.

“Our students are comprised of an interesting mix of people from all walks of life, who share a fascination for human behaviour and the way society deals with criminality. The Alumni profile stories will convey the diversity of employment and academic directions available through this unique course.”

NCPS graduates are work-ready for positions in in law enforcement, the courts, legal administration and corrective services. In some cases, students have been offered paid roles during their work placement unit.

The first articles in the new series showcase graduates who have pursued further study and careers in the legal field:

  • Melissa now works behind the scenes of a busy courtroom and may use her Bachelor qualifications as a pathway to further legal study in the future.
  • Leonardo, now a lawyer, was inspired by his NCPS lecturers to pursue higher study and remembers their valuable mentorship during times of uncertainty.
  • Beulah also appreciated her teachers’ personal involvement in her studies and is now studying for her Juris Doctor.
  • Alicia, a former NCPS Student Ambassador, took an entry-level role at a Melbourne compensation law firm and was recently promoted to a new position.
