Student Visas, Applications and Student Immigration Australia
If you’re an international student and you’d like to study in Australia, then you’ll need a valid student visa. The Australian Government issues visas to students who study full-time on campus, and have sufficient funds to cover course fees and living expenses while in Australia.
Student visa let you do up to 20 hours per week paid work while your course is running, and you can do unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks.

Country assessment levels
Your country assessment level will depend on the passport you hold and the education sector relevant to your application
Visa types
The visa you apply for will depend on the education sector in which you wish to study. NCPS students usually will be on any of the following visa subclasses:
- 572 Vocational Education and Training
- 573 Higher Education
- 576 AusAID/Defence Sponsored
For a Bachelor degree, a graduate certificate or a graduate diploma, the correct visa subclass is:
- 573 Higher Education.
Medical, financial and English language requirements
Depending on your country of origin and/or your country assessment level, you may also need:
- a medical check
- evidence of sufficient funds
- evidence of English language proficiency
English language
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is now the only English proficiency test accepted for non-government and non-agency sponsored students in certain assessment levels.
